Ngozi Osuagwu, MD, FACOG, RYT, CS

Ngozi Osuagwu attended The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland and received her medical training at the State University of New York at Buffalo.  She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, an affiliate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City.  Dr. Osuagwu is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.  She is also a certified Yoga teacher. She was recently named a Costin Scholar, a recognition accorded individuals that have demonstrated advanced aptitude in the area of medical education.

Dr. Osuagwu is currently the Supervising Physician of the Women’s Health Center at Doctors Hospital and a partner of Doctors Obstetrics and Gynecology, Inc. She is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Prior to joining Doctors Hospital, she formed The Healthy Woman, Inc., which she started in 1997, and was its CEO and Clinical Director until December 2004. Between 1995 and 1997, she was an attending obstetrician/gynecologist in the now defunct Central Ohio Medical Group, Inc.

Dr. Osuagwu stays active in the community and nationally with her involvement in health related activities. She has given keynote speeches, numerous lectures and led many workshops on different aspects of health, especially in the area of women’s health. She has given lectures in on health disparities and literacy, cultural competency, and a myriad of health issues affecting different minority populations. She also likes to spread the gospel of preventive health and comprehensive health education, occasionally weaving in scripture from the actual Gospels, and is very comfortable speaking to healthcare professionals, adults, teenagers, or mixed groups.

Ngozi Osuagwu is a much sought after speaker on the topics of preventive care and integrative medicine. She has led health workshops at conferences hosted by Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) sorority, National Coalition of 100 Black Women, etc. She has been interviewed by members of both the electronic and print media and has been featured in publications including Essence and The Wall Street Journal. Among those who have interviewed her are Kathy Davis of WBAI, Wendy Williams of WBLS, Linord Moudou of Voice of America TV and Joe Madison of WOLB. She was a guest columnist on Columbus Post, where she wrote on health issues.

A happily married mother of three children who is very active in her church, she resides in Central Ohio with her family. She enjoys ScrabbleÒ, dancing, reading and Yoga. She is the author of the book Letters to My Sisters – Plain Truths and Straightforward Advice from a Gynecologist (Ben Bosah Books, 2006). The book was selected by Publishers Marketing Association (www.pma-online.org) as a finalist for its 2007 Benjamin Franklin Awards for Best First Book in the nonfiction category and it has been praised for its simplicity and unique approach to communicating health information. PMA is a not for profit association of more than 4,000 publishers.  Her second book, for resident physicians, Clinical Handbook for the First Year Resident in the Ob/Gyn Ambulatory Setting will be published Fall 2008.
